All About Us

SmartSexResource is a service provided by the Clinical Prevention Services Division at the BC Centre for Disease Control, as part of the Provincial Health Services Authority. This Division provides leadership  for the treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV, and supports BC-wide efforts to control STI and HIV. We operate two STI clinics and provide outreach clinical and prevention services in the Lower Mainland, community education programs, and consultation services for BC health care providers on STI management.

This website was funded in part through the provincial STOP HIV/AIDS Pilot project, which aims to increase testing for HIV and access to HIV care and treatment for people diagnosed with HIV in the province of BC.

Our Vision

We want all people living in British Columbia to have access to the services and information they need in order to have the smartest sex possible.  We envision this website as a comprehensive sexual health resource that provides local, relevant information and services for British Columbians of all ages. Here you can find sexual health information, where to get tested and other sexual health services in your area. Plus you can interact with an experienced public health nurse through private chat or by sending in a question.

We also want this website to be a practical resource for health care providers and other professionals working in the area of sexual health in British Columbia. In the “For Health Providers” section, you can find links to treatment resources and you can subscribe to our blog to receive the latest updates related to prevention and treatment of STIs.

We Value Your Feedback

We want to keep this site dynamic and relevant for British Columbia over time. If you have suggestions for new content, or comments on the website, we would like to hear from you, so please contact us.
