Yes, it is possible to get syphilis from kissing. It is passed by skin to skin contact with an open syphilis sore (lesion). Syphilis can be in the mouth, although the sores are often not seen. 

There was a rise in syphilis rates in BC in 2012. The majority of cases of syphilis were in men who have sex with men (MSM). Often people do not know they have syphilis because they do not notice any symptoms. If you or your partners are having sex with more than one person, it is a good idea to get regular testing.
