Hi
It’s possible that HIV could pass this way as you may be putting someone else’s blood into your anus. It’s difficult to know the exact risk as HIV does not survive well when it is outside of the body.
It is always hard to recall what exactly happened or what someone saw after the fact, but given that your feeling unwell and worried about this I think it would be good to go for a HIV test 6 weeks after this event happened .
Currently in BC Canada we use the 4th gen (antigen and antibody) HIV test, we find that most people would show a positive result by 6 weeks after HIV was passed to them, but sometimes it can take up to 90 days so it’s a good idea to do a final test at 90 days if concerned.
Let us know if you have any more questions, concerns or need assistance finding a place that offers HIV testing.
