Had protected insertive fellatio with sex worker. She was putting condom with her mouth. How big danger is to get infected (especially with hepatitis b) from this intercourse?

Hi there,

There is almost no danger of being infected with Hepatitis B if you use a condom during oral sex, so you did the right thing. Condoms offer great protection from most Sexually Transmitted Infections, especially ones like Hepatitis B that are passed in body fluids. Condoms are a little less helpful for the kinds of infections like Herpes that are passed through skin-to-skin contact, because sometimes the skin around the base of the condom will be pressing against the other person’s skin.

If you are concerned about getting Hepatitis B, you can also look into getting the vaccine that will make you immune to this infection. If you live in British Columbia, this vaccine is free through your local public health unit and most STI clinics. You can use the clinic finder app on this site to find an STI clinic near you  – and it’s not a bad idea to get your regular STI testing while you’re there.

Hope that answers your question,
