hello.. i drank a glass of water at a restaurant yesterday. After drinking water from the glass i noticed fresh semen or sputum like substance on the rim of the glass. Can i get hiv if the substance on the rim of the glass was fresh semen. Do i need to get tested ?

From what you have told us it doesn’t seem that you need to have an HIV test, even if it was fresh semen, for these reasons:

• Most people get HIV by having unprotected vaginal or anal sex, or sharing needles and other drug equipment, with someone who has HIV
• HIV only lives a short period of time outside the body
• HIV is not passed through oral contact because it does not live in the mouth
