Hello ,please answer my question,I’m very worried about my situation,i had warts around of my anus and i froze them with liquid nitrogen and cotton swab in clinic,but i scared too much and my concern is if the person before me had hiv and had bleeding and the nurse forgot to change equipments and used those hiv infected equipments for me and that cotton swap had direct contact with my skin(i have visited only after 2 or 3 minutes after previous person who may have hiv).after cryotherapy ,around of my anus became inflamed and i saw blisters a few hours after cryo.my question is if the nurse used hiv infected equipments for me or HIV virus mixed with liquid nitrogen (hiv viruse froze with that liquid nitrogen and was alive )and the nurse used that liquid nitrogen for me after 2 or 3 minutes,is it possible that i get hiv??(I’m not sure that i had wounds or cut around my anus but i had inflammation),and also i scared about after a few hours my warts dried and fell and made sores on my skin,can hiv stayed alive on my skin because of low temperature of cryo and entered to my bloodstream from those sores? Thanks for writing in detail about your concerns. Having cryotherapy for wart treatment is not a way we see HIV transmitted. It is a normal process of cryotherapy to develop inflammation at the treatment site which blisters in a few hours and then breaks down to sores which heal quickly in 4-5 days. New swabs are used each time when the cryotherapy is done using swabs to apply the liquid nitrogen. This way there is no risk of contamination between patients. When you go back to the clinic to have the area checked to see if you need further treatment, be sure to ask the nurse about this concern.
