Home / Answered Questions / Hi. I’m a 24yo male, and some pimples were showing up on my pubic area. I went to the doctor and he told me to do some tests. All results were okay, yet, the urethral testing results showed that I have staphylococcus aureus that was resistant in penicilin only, and sensitive to other antibiotics. So the doctor prescribed to me amoxicilin twice a day per 1p days, and gentamicin gel for the pimples. Tomorrow is my last day and yet nothing happened with the pimples. In fact, they multiplied. I went to another doctor and she told me that I shouldnt have taken amoxicilim, but erythromycin, and she prescribed 2 other creams: aknefloks during the day and benzolait AZ during the night. Of course, since I took amoxicilin, I dont want to start taking yet another antibiotic, so that seemed strange to me. And oh, she put Nitrogen on my pimples to ‘burn’ them and told me to repeat this every 7 days for a month. Did anyone had a similar experience? Any tips perhaps? Could this be something else? Honestly, I am a bit stressed out, so any attempt for help would be deeply appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, thanks for writing in with your concerns.  When I read that you received liquid nitrogen treatment to the ‘pimples’ in your pubic area, this made me think you possibly have a skin to skin infection called molluscum contagiosum which can be treated with liquid nitrogen. To read more about molluscum, please see www.healthlinkbc.ca/healthlinkbc-files/molluscum-contagiosum  When you go back for your next treatment, please consider asking the doctor what the diagnosis is. If you like, you can get a second opinion at an STI clinic and you can find a clinic near you at  https://smartsexresource.com/get-tested/clinic-finder
