Having feelings for or being attracted to members of the same sex is very common and just one of the variations of sexual attraction. Many boys and girls are attracted to members of their own sex during puberty. Wanting to do things like holding hands with a friend of the same sex, wanting to look at or touch each other’s genitals may make them wonder if they are gay or lesbian. These feelings are normal and part of discovering one’s sexuality. Being gay is when a guy is emotionally and sexually attracted to other guys. Being lesbian is when a woman is emotionally and sexually attracted to other women. Bisexuality is being attracted to both sexes and heterosexuality is being attracted to the opposite sex.
