Home / Answered Questions / Hi, last night my boyfriend wanted me to give him a handjob. He told me he don’t think he has anything because he’s only ever been with one person n she was a virgin. So, I gave him a handjob but it didnt last long so he didn’t cum or anything like that. After that I went n washed my hands right away but I noticed i had 2 open cuts on thumb by my nail, I don’t think that part touched him but still, one of my cuts was bleeding a bit . Idk if it was from me washing my hands to much or from him. Am I at risk for anything? Please help. Thanks.

Thanks for your question. It is not possible to get  HIV or chlamydia or gonorrhea by giving a handjob. In general, handjobs are considered to be a very low risk sexual activity. It is possible to transmit chlamydia and gonorrhea to yourself if your boyfriend has these STI’s and you have his precum or cum on your hand/s and then touch your vagina or penis. It does not sound like there was any fluid contact of this kind.  If there was no fluid contact with the cuts on your thumb, there is no STI risk with this type of  contact. Health Nurse
