Hi
Condoms offer great protection against HIV. The sex you have described would not be a good way to pass HIV.
I can see how this sex has stressed you out. I don’t know your full history or the person you had sex with so it is difficult to give specific information on your level of risk for example is this your only sexual encounter, is the girl on HIV medication (which can reduce the chance of passing HIV) etc…
With this one encounter the sex you have described would not be a good way for HIV to pass to you, but at the same time I can see how knowing the status of the girl could cause you a lot of stress/anxiety. Given this I think it would be worthwhile to go to a clinic and ask them for a HIV test. Ask them about the window period for the HIV test they offer (the time between when a person comes in contact with HIV and when HIV will show up on a test).
The advantage of getting a HIV test is that you are able to stop worrying about it when you get a HIV test at the end of the window period. We know that waiting to get the HIV test can be stressful. Have a look at our worry page for some helpful information on what to do during this period. If you find you are getting really stressed and life is becoming difficult you could always see a health professional in your area about this. If you are in BC Canada let us know if you need assistance in finding a health professional.
