Home / Answered Questions / Hi There. I had a one night stand with a girl in august. We performed unprotected oral sex on each other and also rubbed our genitals together. We didnt have intercourse. About 2 weeks later I noticed what looked like a zit in my mouth on my palate in front of my uvula. It was white and had a red border around it. It was painful only when I swallowed and disappeared in a week or so. That was the only sore i have had. About a week after that I felt like i was getting pin pricks all over my mouth and parts of my body. This lasted a few weeks. I went to a doctor and had std testing done. Everything came back negative. Then approx in November my mouth and toungue started burning, jaw muscles were aching and it felt like parts of my face were going numb. My toungue almost looks like parts of it have a rash on it. My dentist said it looks like my papillae were irritated. The head of my penis is also sore. I went in to the doctor again and got re tested for std and also paid for a igg herpes blood test. This was 12.5 weeks after my encounter in August. Again the tests came back negative including the igg test for hsv 1 and 2. Do you have any thoughts as to what this could be? I also take 100 mg of doxycicline antibiotics daily for a scalp condition. Could this affect the testing in any way? Thanks for your help.

Hi, thanks for writing in about your concerns. It sounds like you have been worrying a lot about this encounter. The sexual contact you describe is considered a very low risk for HIV transmission and your test results have confirmed that you did not get HIV or any other std’s during that sexual encounter. The tests have covered the window period. The symptoms you describe are not common sexually transmitted infection symptoms. It’s possible that some of the symptoms you describe could be side effects of taking doxycycline and I would recommend that you continue to see your doctor to discuss your concerns. Health Nurse
