Home / Answered Questions / Hi I am sorry I didn’t know how to continue the same question. I had asked regarding the high risk exposure with a high risk individual. With my tests 10 day rna pcr – don’t you feel it should have detected if any infection was there? Then the 30 day duo – shouldn’t that detect p24 antigen part of they were there? The 65 day duo again – shouldn’t they detect the antibody? And then a 82 day duo again – shouldn’t that be final for HIV 2 antibodies as well? Lastly if there were no antigen or antibody being detected wouldn’t my PCR at 84 days detect viral load ? Is it even possible to be infected when at 10 days not detected, 30 days no 024 and 82 days again no antibody and 84 days not detected by RNA. I have done these tests on my own without a health professional to rule out infection? Can I rule it out and be certain given so many tests? Please guide me. Thank you

Hi, it sounds like you have been worrying and had a lot of different kinds of HIV testing done. Having negative HIV tests at 84 days is very reassuring and it is very unlikely that within the next 6 days to the 90 day mark that the test results would change. However because of the anxiety about the testing and that the test results are determined to be most accurate at 90 days or 3 months post risk; then it is advisable to have an antibody test done at this time. If the result at 90 days is HIV negative, then there is no need to do any further testing.
