Hi, thanks for your question. Usually assessment of STI risk factors would have been discussed with you and your consent obtained before any STI tests were ordered on your panel. As you have pointed out you do not have any known risk for sexually transmitted infections and therefore the test would not be ordered. This is definitely something to discuss with the doctor who ordered the tests.
There isn’t a registry at BCCDC of everyone who has STI testing done anywhere. The record of the test ordered for you and the results are with the lab where the test is done and shared with your doctor. If the STI results are positive for any of the tests, that result is shared with BCCDC so that there can be follow up to see the person was informed of the infection, was treated with the appropriate antibiotics and assistance offered to contact and treat partners.
