I don’t have a BC insurance. So How much can I pay for sti test? And How to can I get a test? Blood?

Hi

It really depends on your situation and where you go for a test.

There are a few clinics that offer free testing in BC.

There are two clinics in the Vancouver area that offer free STI testing.

Provincial STI Clinic (Mainly appointments but some drop in)

Bute street clinic (drop in only, no appointments taken)

Most public health units around BC also offer free STI testing. Have a look at our clinic finder for a clinic in your area and give them a call to see if there is a charge for STI testing.

It is also possible to get STI testing at any doctor’s office in BC e.g. a walk in clinic. This is normally covered if you have health insurance from another province in BC.

If you go to a walk in clinic and are not covered by another provinces health insurance you are looking at around $120 for the doctor’s visit and another $120 for the lab tests (urine test for gonorrhea and chlamydia, blood test for HIV and syphilis).

Have a look at our page on tests and exams to see the different ways you can test for STI.
