Sorry you went through this, it sounds like a scary incident. You can be reasurred that we don’t consider you at risk from HIV from blood being spat on you. HIV dies within seconds after leaving the human body, so it would not survive long enough to be transmitted to you. For HIV to be transmitted, it would need to get directly from the blood of a person with HIV and into your bloodstream. Getting blood on your hand is not a risk for HIV. If blood got in your eye, there is a very tiny possibility of HIV transmission, but this is very unlikely.
