However, I was very drunk and had unprotected oral sex (giving and receiving). Due to winter dryness, my upper lip had small cuts and was chapped. I am now extremely worried that I might have an STD. It has been keeping me awake recently(having OCD makes this worry far more excruciating). As far as I remember, the escort did not exhibit any symptoms of STDs. My questions are the following: 1. Do escort agencies make their girls get tested for STDs regularly(in Canada) 2. Is it possible that I may have contracted an STD? If so, which ones am I likely to have?

Hi

Sex work is not regulated in BC so there is no requirement for people to be tested for employment purposes.

When working in the clinic, most escorts I have met are concerned about their health and come in for regular testing e.g. every 1-3 months.

It is always possible that an STI could have been passed to you; I don’t know your full sexual history, so it is hard to say.

With what you described, there does not appear to be any reason to think that you have an STI. You used a condom which really reduces the risk. .

Have a look at our chart “Know your chances”. It provides information on your chances of getting or passing an STI depending on how you are having sex.

Being worried about STI can cause a lot of stress.  Feel free to talk with a nurse on chat or go to a clinic to talk to a nurse
