Hi
There are no symptoms that are caused by just having HIV. The symptoms people get with a HIV illness are common symptoms that can be caused by many different conditions.
The only way you can find out if you have HIV is to go for a HIV test. In BC Canada the HIV test we use has a window period of 3 months. The window period is the time between when a person comes in contact with HIV and when HIV will show up on a test. Even though our HIV test has a window period of 3 months we find that it is 95% accurate by 6 weeks. As it has been 7 months your HIV test would be very accurate
Condoms offer good protection against HIV for vaginal sex when used correctly and all the time and we don’t see HIV being passed to the person receiving oral sex.
It is possible that other STI like gonorrhea, chlamydia etc… can be passed when receiving oral sex. Have a look at our “Know your chances” web page, it provides information on your chances of getting or passing an STI depending on how you are having sex.
It sounds like you already had some blood tests done. Do you feel comfortable asking for a HIV test? I know it can be stressful getting a HIV test and some people feel uncomfortable asking their family doctor for one. If you feel uncomfortable getting a HIV test at your family doctor let us know and we can help you find another clinic for a test.
