Hoping it’s just a UTI but has been hanging around going on three days now… Want to get it checked out but only in Vancouver for a day, then flying off to work in a remote location that won’t have a pharmacy near by. I’d rather not have to reschedule my plans. Is there any way to have a rapid (non-hvi) sti test and get the results and prescription, if one is required, all in the same day?

Hi, thanks for your question. You could come to the Bute clinic on 1170 Bute Street in Vancouver which is open Monday to Friday 11- 6.30 pm and is first come first served with a sign up sheet. This clinic is an outreach STI testing clinic. You can discuss your concerns there and you can be treated right away to for any urethral symptoms like you are describing. You can also do testing at the same time. The tests are sent away to the provincial lab and will be available in about 7 days and you can call in for your results. This way you would be treated and then when your results come in, if there if an STI like chlamydia or gonorrhea is confirmed; you can let your partner/s from the last 2 months know. The antibiotic treatment is free at the Bute clinic. Hope this helps. Health Nurse
