Alesse is a low dose birth control pill and break through spotting or bleeding is a very common side effect. Sometimes this happens when the pill is started in the middle of the cycle.  Sometimes it happens when the pill is taken at different times every day or has been missed but you have been taking it consistently. Sometimes this will clear when you have been taking the pill regularly for a couple months and sometimes it wont. If the spotting or bleeding continues then you may be advised to consider a higher dose pill. Keep taking the Alesse and go back to the clinic/doctor where you were prescribed the pill to talk about your concern in person so they know and can advise you.
