Hi

Currently we are in the process of updating the HIV window period information on the smart sex resource website. In the past we had some questions and resources that had the 4th generation lab test as being conclusive at 50 days.

There have been several studies and countries that feel that the 4th generation HIV test will give a final result at 6 weeks/50 days.

With further consultation with our lab it is felt that it would be unlikely for someone to show a positive result after 6 weeks, but to be on the safe side a final 4th gen test is still recommended at 90 days.

Our lab feels that they would like to see a few more studies on HIV window periods using the HIV 4th gen test before they recommend that the final window period be 6 weeks.
