Hi

HIV is not passed to the person receiving oral sex.

Also, flu like symptoms related to HIV (seroconversion illness) usually happen within 2 – 4 weeks after contact.
It sounds like your symptoms happened around 4 months after the contact.

It is possible to get syphilis, gonorrhea and Chlamydia when you get oral sex.

You might want to check out our “Know Your Chances” charts for more information on different ways of having sex and HIV/STIs.

Often people have no symptoms when they have these STIs. For that reason we recommend STI testing if you have had a new partner. Check out our Clinic Finder if you need help locating a place for testing in BC.
