If I am over the age advised for the HPV vaccine, is the HPV vaccine still effective? Are their studies showing the results of effectiveness on women who are vaccinated above the age group 26? Also does the HPV prevent genital herpes and cold sores?

The HPV vaccine is recommended for all women between the ages of 9 to 45.

Publicly funded programs pay for girls between the ages of 9-11 because it is unlikely they have started having sex, so they probably have not been already exposed to HPV. Also they have the strongest vaccine response at that age.

However, there is data that the vaccine is effective in women up to the age or 45.

HPV does not protect against oral or genital herpes (HSV). HSV is a different virus.
