Hi
Using a condom when receiving oral sex will really reduce your chance of having a sti pass to you. It is one of the safer ways to have sex.
Certain STI like HPV (genital warts), syphilis and HSV (herpes simplex virus), pass by skin to skin contact. If someone had one of these STI in their mouth it is still possible it could pass to you if they came in contact with an area that was not covered by the condom, but the chance would be much smaller when compared to oral sex without a condom.
Have a look at our oral sex chart on our “Know your chances” web page, it provides information on your chances of getting or passing an STI depending on how you are having sex.
