Hi, thanks for writing in with your concerns. The symptoms you describe are not usual symptoms of HIV. It is quite common for some antibiotics to cause diarrhea. It sounds like you have been worrying a lot about the oral sex you had received 6 weeks ago. Oral sex is considered a very low risk for HIV transmission but a high risk for syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea. I would suggest that you consider testing for these STI’s now and then again at 3 months . If any of these STI’s are detected, they can be easily treated with antibiotics. You can also do the HIV testing at the 3 months mark to be sure and reassure yourself you did not get HIV from this encounter. If you are going to be seeing this person again, then both of you being tested for STI’s and HIV can be reassuring for each other. Health Nurse
