Home / Answered Questions / 4 months ago I had an unprotected sex with a random girl in a bar while I was in South East Asia. I did my stds and HIV test on first week and 3rd week after the exposure. All came back negative. I am not having any visible symptoms or discharge. However, I feel a bit sensitivity around my lower abdomen. It comes and go. I went to doctor, and he says nothing to worry about STDs as I had 2 tests and they came back negative. He suggested I should take my HIV test in 3 months after exposure. Please give some of your thoughts? thank you

Your Doctor is correct, most STI tests are accurate if done 3 weeks after having sex. HIV tests can take up to 3 months to show an infection so repeat this test and if you want you could repeat your syphilis test as it can take up to 4 weeks to show this infection.
