I am a gay man, age 47. I received HPV vaccine many years ago. Recently, I start wondering that if strength of the vaccine may wear off over time. Do I need to get a update HPV vaccine every few years or is one vaccination good for the life time?
Hi, there are ongoing studies on how long the effectiveness of the HPV vaccine lasts. Recently this 2017 study titled HPV vaccine is effective, safe 10 years after it's given, showed that at 10 years the vaccine was still effective in providing immunity. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/11/171129131400.htm I checked with one of our resident physicians and currently there are no... Hello, i had unprotected sex with 2 girls. One in November and one in December. The girl in December put cream into her vagina right before we had vaginal sex. She said the cream is for numbing, but i dont know if she is telling the truth or not. Also, i had a wound on my penis. So, my questions are is there any cream that could lead to a longer hiv window period? Is the 6weeks test conclusive or have 99% accuracy? Do i have to do the 12weeks test to have a 99% accurate result?

If you had the HIV RNA or early test at the 6 week mark, then this is considered to cover the window period up to 99% to detect the virus if it was transmitted to you. Its important to consider other STI's that are transmitted through unprotected sex so although you have tested out HIV, you could... Read Full Answer

Can you get joint pain 7 months after with HIV?
Hi, thanks for your question. If you have HIV and are on HIV treatment then the joint pain may be a side effect of your HIV medications. You can read more about joint and muscle pain with HIV here www.catie.ca/en/practical-guides/hiv-drug-side-effects/10-muscle-pains and it would be recommended to talk to your HIV doctor to discuss your concerns. Hello , I am a Male in my mid forty's. And as part of a remarkable bad decision I have recently received unprotected oral sex from an escort. It lasted a total of 5 seconds. As I was so worried about it I asked her to stop and put a condom on me. She stopped right away. And put a condom on me. I was so worried at this point I asked her to just finish me with a hand job. I know the hand job is no risk at all for hiv. My real concern is the 5 second oral sex I received and weather or not I...
Hi,thanks for writing in with your concerns. The situation you describe is not the way we see HIV being transmitted The person at risk in this encounter is the escort whose throat is exposed. HIV is not transmitted in saliva. Low risk and negligable risk can be read as the same thing. Using a condom can give both of you reassurance that there is no fluid contact between you and the escort... Read Full Answer
