Hi

In BC Canada we currently use the 4th generation HIV test which measures any HIV proteins in your body as well as antibodies. We find that this test is about 95% accurate by 6 weeks and would give you a final result after 3 months.

I am not familiar with the test you have described. I also don’t understand why they gave you the results as 0.30 and 0.15. Those would just be numbers they used in the lab. The results are usually reported as reactive, non-reactive or inconclusive (neither reactive nor non-reactive repeat blood test in 2 weeks).

I would just recommend calling the people who did the test as they would be able to tell you if your test was reactive or non-reactive and what would be the window period for the test they used.

If you are unable to get this information from them and you are back in Canada you could always go for another HIV test here.

In regard to the 6 months window you were recommended. I find that it can be difficult getting HIV testing information from the internet. There is old information on the internet that is never deleted. The old HIV test we used had a window period of 6 months but like most technology this has changed dramatically over the last few years.
