I had unprotected sex after one week felt pain duling ulinating a drop of white discharge, I visited clinic near by, I told a nurse and she proscribe without a test, on the proscription was doxil, fragile and panado was this right for my problem though no test conducted?

Hi, thanks for writing in. From what you say, it sounds like the nurse prescribed antibiotics ( doxycycline ?and flagyl?) and pain tablets (?Panadol) for your symptoms. Usually the ealiest that testing for sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia and gonorrhea can be done is at 2 weeks after the sex. If you still have symptoms I suggest going back to the clinic for assessment and possibly further treatment. Health Nurse

Thanks for your question.

Flagyl is an antibiotic that can be used to treat many different infections, incluidng some vaginal infections.

Most commonly, Fagyl is used to treat Bacertial Vaginosis (BV). BV is not a sexually transmitted infection, but it is an imbalance of vaginal bacteria that happens for many women.

If you were given the flagyl after your PAP test, it's likely that during your test the doctor/nurse doing your PAP noticed some of the symptoms of BV and thought it would be a good idea to take medication.

The metallic taste is a side effect of the medication, and will likely go away soon.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to submit another question as needed.
