Let’s talk about herpes…

There are three new resources now available on SmartSexResource for health care professionals to use in their practice and to share with patients.

Herpes: Patient Handout – a 4-page, 8.5” x 11” handout for patients wanting a short summary of herpes symptoms, transmission and treatment. Also included is information on living with herpes.

Herpes: A Patient’s Guide – a 25-page, 8.5” x 11” handout for patients wanting detailed information on everything herpes-related, from transmission and testing to getting a new diagnosis and dating with herpes. Also included is a comprehensive list of local herpes and counselling resources.

Herpes: A Health Care Provider’s Guide – an 18-page, 8.5” x 11” guide for health care professionals giving herpes diagnoses and talking to patients about herpes. Also included are local herpes and counseling resources.

These colourful, easy-to-read documents speak about herpes using de-stigmatizing and normalizing language. They were developed by Clinical Prevention Services at the BC Centre for Disease Control to help change the way that herpes is perceived and the way that herpes is talked about by patients and care providers.

These handouts can be downloaded and printed, or viewed on desktop and mobile devices.
