Discontinuing testing & vaccination reminder service on SmartSexResource

Since 2016, SmartSexResource has offered a testing & vaccination reminder service where users can sign up for email or text messages letting them know when to make an appointment for regular STI screening, re-testing, PrEP follow-up, or when to book their next dose of HPV or hepatitis vaccination. As of December 1, 2021, this service will no longer be available.

This change is part of a broader redesign of SmartSexResource that aims to improve the usability, functionality, and appearance of the website. The new website will focus on the information and tools that website users, including health care providers and community members, have told us are the most valuable.  We look forward to sharing more about the new website, which is set to launch early in 2022, in another blog post soon.

All existing reminder service users have been sent a notification alerting them of the change. We encourage health care providers to help clients set up reminders on their mobile devices during clinic visits when appropriate. We have included information about intervals for testing and appointments on the website to help people know when to set reminders.
