Upcoming HIV conferences in Canada

CANAC (Canadian Association for Nurses in HIV/AIDS Care)

CANAC is a national professional nursing organization committed to fostering excellence in HIV/AIDS nursing, promoting the health, rights and dignity of persons affected by HIV/AIDS and to preventing the spread of HIV infection.

Theme: Spotlight on the Social Determinants of HIV and Health. Social determinants of health have a significant impact on the predisposition of individuals and groups to HIV infection. They also play an important role in shaping the outcomes of HIV prevention, treatment, and care.

This year’s conference will provide the opportunity for nurses from across Canada to share their knowledge, practical experiences, research and network with each other through plenary, concurrent abstract sessions, workshops and social functions.

CAHR (Canadian Association for HIV Research)

The annual CAHR Conference is the premier gathering in Canada for those working in all disciplines of HIV/AIDS research, as well as policy makers, persons living with HIV and other individuals committed to ending the pandemic.

Theme: Combining Strengths in the Struggle Against HIV. CAHR 2015 will showcase the benefits of combining treatment, prevention, and research across methodologies, research tracks, and disciplines to combat the HIV epidemic.

Attendees will include researchers, frontline public health and community-based workers, policy makers, people living with HIV and AIDS and others interested in the field of HIV research.

IAS (International AIDS Society) Conference

IAS 2015 will be a unique opportunity for all those involved in the global response to HIV, including scientists, clinicians, public health experts, community leaders, and media professionals, to meet and examine the latest scientific developments in HIV-related research, and explore how such developments can be realistically applied in implementation programs.

Theme:  HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention. The objectives of IAS 2015 will focus on the latest HIV science; new insights into determinants of disease progression; the challenges of co-morbidities; research into prevention, functional cure and vaccine; barriers to research and implementation scale-up and integration; and the situation of HIV in Canada and the U.S.
