There's something new on SmartSexResource!

SmartSexResource has a new feature that you can share with your patients: testing and vaccine reminders!

People can now sign up to receive automated reminders by text or email. The only personal information required is a phone number or email address.

SmartSexResource now offers reminders for:

  • Regular STI testing (every 3, 6 or 12 months)
  • Re-testing following a diagnosis of chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis (at 3 or 6 months)
  • Hepatitis vaccines (HAV, HBV, Twinrix)
  • HPV vaccines (Cervarix, Gardasil, Gardasil-9)

The main goal of this new feature is to help improve STI testing and retesting rates. At the provincial STI clinic at BCCDC, the retesting rates among people previously diagnosed with an STI are low.  Only about 15% of people diagnosed with either chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis return for retesting within eight months of being treated. Reminding clients to retest may improve general testing and detection rates.

The new feature also provides the opportunity to remind people to complete all their vaccinations within a multi-dosage vaccine schedule.

Please help us promote this service – share it with your patients or sign up for your own reminder!
