World AIDS Day 2013 – BC events

Every year, World AIDS Day is held on December 1st to raise global awareness about the HIV/AIDS pandemic.  The theme of ‘Getting to Zero: zero new HIV infections, zero AIDS-related deaths’ continues in 2013, with a focus on improving access to prevention, treatment and care for youth.

December 1st is also the start of Aboriginal AIDS Awareness Week (December 1 – 6, 2013).  Every First Nation, Inuit and Metis community in Canada is affected by HIV and AIDS.  Aboriginal AIDS Awareness Week brings together Aboriginal organizations, government, health care providers and community members across the nation to build on their understanding of the HIV epidemic among Aboriginal people.
