There are several different types of treatment for HPV (genital wart) infection. How you respond to treatment, and how long it takes your body to clear an HPV (genital wart) infection, will depend on your general health and your body’s natural defenses (immune system). This handout describes the various treatment options.
Metronidazole is an antibiotic taken by mouth for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (BV) or certain sexually transmitted infections (STI).
Azithromycin is an antibiotic taken for the treatment of certain sexually transmitted infections.
Acyclovir (Zovirax®) and Valacyclovir are antiviral medications taken by mouth for the treatment of genital herpes.
